Visa and Immigration Information
As part of our services to existing and prospective students, City University of Michigan Office of Student Affairs and Admissions assists with the visa and immigration process. If you are a foreign national or a student studying abroad, you will likely require a visa to enter the United States. The following section contains information regarding the F1 visa category, which is the most prevalent for overseas students, as well as other visa categories. CNOMICH is responsible for providing and controlling student visas for overseas students, and the process of securing a visa to study or work in the United States can be daunting. In order to guarantee that our students have access to reliable information when applying for a student or work visa, we've established the International Student Visa and Immigration Center. In addition to the particular criteria for each type of visa, there are additional general entry requirements for the United States. In general, you should:
- Vaccinated You do not require any vaccines to enter the United States unless you have just travelled from a country with an ongoing epidemic, such as cholera or yellow fever.
- Infractions of the law will result in deportation.
- Capable of supporting yourself during your stay.
- After completing your education, you intend to leave the United States.
- Please do not hesitate to contact our Student Immigration team if you require assistance with a student visa.
